Evans Road Connector

The Evans Connector Project involved the design and construction of three bridge structures and associated arterial roads to improve the safety and capacity of the transportation infrastructure in the area. Multi-jurisdictional design standards were in place, with a four-lane bridge crossing the TransCanada Highway and two four-lane municipal bridges crossing over environmentally sensitive waterways. A roundabout was designed and constructed to improve traffic flow at the Evans /Yale Road intersection. Other key facets of the project included utility construction, a rail crossing, complex environmental approvals, mitigative construction, coordination with local First Nations stakeholders, detailed traffic analysis, and design and independent traffic safety audits. Construction staging and project specific traffic management were keys to maintaining a high level of service and safety for the travelling public during construction, with minimal disruption to road operations, utility networks and public transit.
